Pat Henderson's
places that have been ...
closing of the
Tudor Rose
It was a sad day indeed when the "Going Out Of Business" sign went up on the Tudor Rose.
Tudor Rose Sign Departing
One bright spot in the closing of the Rose was that its sign was saved. If ever another Tudor Rose should open in Salem, Oregon the familiar sign may once again welcome returning and new patrons.
The Final Load Of Furnishings Ready To Depart
Friends of the Rose and its owners helped remove its furnishings in mid-August of 2007. Here one of the last loads gets ready to depart.
So That's What The Floor Looked Like
Several photos were stiched together to show the Rose cleared of all the wonderful merchandise and cabinets that gave it so much character. (It was beginning to show its origins as a chain restaurant.) Terry and Bob did such a good job clearing out and cleaning up that the building could have been ready for its next occupant, rather than the heavy machinery that chewed through it a year later.
So long as the sidewalk on the Liberty Street bridge remains intact,
a small piece of the Tudor Rose will remain in downtown Salem, Oregon.
